Henry Welzel was a blackberry and raspberry farmer in
the Puyallup Valley, and had lived in the same farm house
for 83 of his 86 years. He never married, nor had children,
but had a deep fondness for the Park District, Point
Defiance Park and the Zoo. His gift to Parks was over
$382,000, a truly generous legacy.
